New Style Frame Assembly

Unpack Your Map (Punch Holes If Needed, 7mm In Size)

Attach lights to back of map, use either hot glue or electrical tape.

Plug into hub and verify all lights are working. Record airports codes to instruction sheet.

Place map into frame, then place the back cover over the back of the wires. Route the plug through the notch in the top. Use provided thumbtacks to secure the back of the frame.

Attach hub to the back of the frame securely. Now is a good time to enter the wifi settings and airport codes if you haven't already.

Enter Setup Mode

Enjoy your new DIY Metar frame! Weather updates roughly every 10 minutes. Additional settings can be found on the setup page.

Programming Tips

Build Tips (Old Style Lights)

When building wall mount maps most frames will need to "Float" off the wall

The easiest way to get this is 1x2" wood strips from Lowes. You can paint them to match the color of your frame, then using wood glue and a clamp you can attach them to the sides of the frame and let dry for 30 minutes.

When viewed from the front the sides are hidden and the look is extremely clean with all the wires hidden. The gaps at the top and bottom help with airflow to prevent any over heating.

Need To Extend The Wires? (Old Style Lights)

Lights can be spaced up to 2.5" apart with no modification needed. Feel free to try different paths to find the one that works best for you.

Method #1: If you need to skip a light you can and just secure it to the back of the map. Use the code SKIP in place of an airport code.

Example:    KBOW,SKIP,KLAL

Method #2: If you would rather splice them instead use wire cutters and make a cut halfway between the lights. You will also need to strip back the insulation.

Prepare the wire you are going to splice in, I prefer to use the same colors to keep it consistent. You will need three wires, equal length, 20 awg is the thickness.

Example Wire Kit

Twist the wires together tightly.

Fold the end back

Secure With Electrical Tape

Using the splice method you do not need to enter any special codes. You can also solder the wires for a more permanent connection. Make sure to keep colors consistent, green to green etc.
