Change your hub's settings over USB
New router, new WiFi password, or a hub that will not go into setup mode? Plug it into your computer and change its settings here.
Before you start
- A Windows or Mac computer with Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Safari, Firefox, phones and tablets cannot do this.
- On most hubs the USB cable is built in, so you just move its plug from the wall adapter to the computer.
- Works with Hub 1.0 and Hub 2.0. Nothing on the hub changes until you click Save to hub.
Steps
- Unplug the hub's USB cable from the wall adapter and plug it into the computer.
- Click Connect to hub and pick the hub from the list. It usually shows up as USB Serial or CH340.
- Wait for the hub's settings to appear. This can take up to 15 seconds.
- Change what you need and click Save to hub. To keep your WiFi password, leave the password box blank.
- When it says saved, unplug the hub from the computer and plug it back into the wall adapter.
Hub not in the list?
- Try another USB port on the computer.
- On Windows, install the USB driver from the chip maker, WCH (CH341SER.EXE), then unplug the hub and plug it back in. Macs do not need a driver.
- Close any other browser tab or program that might be using the hub.
